- Acorn Folk: a new concert series launched recently at the Acorn Theatre, Queen Street, Worksop S81 0NX. To begin with it will run monthly on Friday or Saturday. For info, email info@acorntheatre.net or see http://www.acorntheatre.net/
- The Castle Folk Club has now moved from Bradway to the Fleur de Lys Hotel at Totley Hall Lane, Sheffield S17 4AA , switching from the first Monday to the second Tuesday of each month. The 'singers' format continues as before.
- Hillsborough Folk has moved from The Hillsborough Hotel (Mondays) to Tuesdays at The Burton Street Foundation, Burton Street, Hillsborough S6 2HH. Singers with occasional guests. http://www.syfolk.co.uk/

Vernon Arms, Sudbury: A new series of English Music sessions starts at The Vernon Arms, Main Road, Sudbury, Ashbourne, Derbyshire DE6 5HS on Sunday 11 January 2009. It's planned for the second Sunday of each month, running from around 12.30 to about 3 pm - ish, and will be led by Keith Kendrick and Jan Rockett.

- Doncaster Folk Festival — Friday 13 to Sunday 15 March
The third annual Doncaster Folk Festival is being held at various locations throughout Doncaster town centre on Friday 13 March to Sunday 15 March. Three concerts are planned for the Saturday. They will also feature Pete Coe, once described as 'a one man folk industry'; the a capella trio of Moira Craig, Sarah Morgan, and Carolyn Robson; singer-songwriter and 'leg-end in his own trousers' Stanley Accrington, and many more.
There will also be a ceilidh (barn dance) on Friday 13 March; another concert on the Friday night, featuring several local acts; morris dance displays; clog dancing; singarounds; and a musicians' session.
